Copyediting and Proofreading

At Carrowmore, we have built up a network of talented copyeditors and proofreaders who can help with your book. Generally, authors use a copyeditor to work on their book either before they make a submission to a publisher or agent, or if they would like to publish themselves.

The way this works is that we will review your text, and then pick out a number of editors who have experience of working in your genre, whether that is a local history title, a children’s book in rhyme or a romance novel.

The editor you choose will then work through your text for all of the usual elements like grammar, spelling and punctuation. They will also look at elements like internal consistency of dates and names, and, in the case of fiction, the often tricky punctuation around dialogue.

Using a good editor will have a profound effect on how your book received by its readers, and would be a step we would always recommend to every author.

Different editors charge different prices, generally based on their experience, and the cost will usually be based on the wordcount of your book. We can always get you more than one quote from an editor to find one that best suits your needs and your budget.

All editors that work with Carrowmore have extensive professional experience in the publishing industry, are members of one of the professional proofreading associations or have been otherwise vetted by Carrowmore.
