Gill & Macmillan changes name for 2016

Gill & Macmillan, who had a romper stomper of a year in 2015 (albeit without any of the Neo Nazi Australian violence), emerged at year end as Ireland’s largest publisher.
Those few, those happy few who notice publishers’ logos on the spine of books (penguins aside), will also notice that this success has been celebrated by a change. As of 2016, Gill & Macmillan will have a new name. And that name is … Gill Books.
It’s snappy, catchy, and indisputably shorter. It also reflects the fact that G&M has now been taken back into family ownership, with the buyout of Macmillan’s stake.
We would like to take this opportunity to wish them continued success in their new incarnation, and, much as the Skibbereen Eagle might, to give them a benevolent nod of approval.
